Mobile Monday Spain is proud to announce its partnership with the Vodafone Mobile Clicks competition. For the first time, Spanish mobile startups can now compete with other European companies in this competition.

We’d like to call all the talented startups in mobile in our network in Spain to participate! Read below for details to participate to the competition, deadline is August 22!

Vodafone Mobile Clicks 2010, a competition to identify and develop the best, most innovative mobile internet start-ups is now running across four European markets – Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and UK.

The contest is open to any start-up with a great idea for a mobile site, service or application and entrants can compete for the €150,000 prize fund (€100,000 for 1st place and €50,000 to the runner-up) by submitting entries to www.vodafonemobileclicks.com.  The competition is open now, and the closing date for entries is midnight, August 22nd, 2010.

Each entry will be judged on five criteria: originality, creativity and innovation; technical and operational feasibility; economic and financial viability; value to end-users; and finally, on the quality of the management team.

The judging will take place over three rounds. Each competing market will draw up a shortlist of their five best local submissions, a winner will be selected from each shortlist and finally all local winners will be invited to represent their country in a live final at the PICNIC Festival in Holland on September 24^th, 2010, where the overall winner will be chosen by a panel of mobile industry experts, including Om Malik, founder of the GigaOM Network, Russell Buckley, VP Global Alliances at Admob (recently acquired by Google), Peter Vesterbacka – Co-Founder Mobile Monday and Rudy De Waele, founder of Mobile 2.0 Europe and Mobile Monday Barcelona/Madrid.

Launched in 2008, Vodafone Mobile Clicks is a Vodafone initiative designed to accelerate innovation in the mobile internet sector across Europe.

Previous Vodafone Mobile Clicks winners include Layar, an Amsterdam-based company who developed an augmented reality service that allows mobile customers to see information on nearby points of interest by simply looking through a phone’s camera lens. Layar has recently announced a strategic partnership with phone manufacturers LG and Samsung.

Here below are the Entry Criteria:

- Vodafone Mobile Clicks 2010 is open to any individual aged 18 or over resident in the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain or the United Kingdom and to Dutch, Portuguese, Spanish and UK-based start-up companies, businesses, institutions and all other organisations.

- Participants must be or must have the intention to become a start-up enterprise/business in the field of mobile internet products or services. Start-up in this context means that the enterprise/business must be less than 3 years old.

- Each participant may submit only one entry.

- Entries from Vodafone Mobile Clicks 2008 and 2009 may resubmit to Vodafone Mobile Clicks 2010.

Out of many participants and 6 selected pitches at the How To Make Money With Apps! event, Practicopedia was voted as the winner by the MobileMonday Madrid audience last Monday at Ericsson’s ComCenter in Madrid.

The company received a nomination to compete with the best apps for the prestigious Mobile Premier Awards 2011 during the Mobile World Congress.

Rafael Pavon - Business Intelligence and MarCom Responsible of App Store Proyect at Ericsson Spain

Rafael has 10 years experience in market and business intelligence in Technology sector, working as consultant in market research companies with the main players in telecom sector.

Rafael is graduated in Economics, Marketing and Market Research, currently is responsible of the business intelligence and marcom activities at Ericsson Spain, which is playing the role of technologic and business partner in mstore, the Telefonica Group Apps Store.

José Valles - Global Initiative Leader at Open Telefónica

Jose Valles has over 10 years experience in Telefónica Group, having developed several functions from Network Unit to Sales and Marketing, including different segments like Business and Wholesale. Before joining The Innovation Unit in Telefónica Corp, Jose was managing SME segment in O2 Czech Republic aiming to create a differential proposition supported on ICT solutions. From July Jose has being appointed to lead Open Telefónica; the Telefónica Group activity focused on Open Innovation. His declared target in his new role is to attract creativity leveraged on Telefónica capacities and through it, enhance customer’s lives and businesses. Jose is Industrial Engineer from University Carlos III de Madrid and has Executive Education from ESADE Business School. In his free time he loves biking and snowboarding whenever it’s possible.

Daniel Bergqvist – Pre-Sales Engineer for Opera Software

Daniel Bergqvist works as a Pre-Sales Engineer for Opera Software. Daniel has more than ten years of experience in the software industry. His previous experiences include technical positions with companies, such as Drutt Corporation and Ericsson. Daniel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Uppsala University. He lives in Stockholm, Sweden.

Esteban Díaz – Independent Developer

Esteban is an experienced Software Developer and Solutions Architect. He has worked and led a wide variety of projects having to do with Telephony (Mobile and Fixed), Contact Center and Productivity Applications for the past 14 years. He has been focused lately in Productivity and Social Media Tools for Businesses, delivered through the Internet to different target devices (mobiles, desktop, etc.) and following the SaaS and PaaS models.

His main interest at the moment is how the convergence of Social Media, cheap Mobile Telecoms and the emergence of Cloud/Grid computing is opening new opportunities and markets like SRM (Social Relationship Management). Esteban acts as the typical startup CTO/CIO, architecting the software solutions developed by Tyven and leading an agile development team, using the popular SCRUM methodology.

In addition to that, Esteban spends a great deal of time researching and analyzing the market in order to steer Codeeta in the right direction, as this is an ever-evolving service.
