The first Mobile Monday Madrid of 2008 on January 21, 2008 covers Mobile Advertising. That topic was on everybody’s lips in 2007 and was put forward by many mobile start-ups as THE revenue model of the future. Fast forward 2008 where we’ll focus on a reality check on the status of Mobile Advertising concretely today.

Jefferson has 15 years experience at international business development at director level at media, software and consultancy firms, having worked for Sony Pictures, Analysis Consulting as well as his own start-up firm in 2001 and 2002. A US citizen and a graduate of Stanford University, Jefferson currently lives in Madrid with his wife and 3 children.

Shozu is the leading provider of mobile social media services that connect mobile consumers with their online social networks, personal blogs, photo storage sites and other Web 2.0 properties from the handset.

Juan Antonio Muñoz, Founder of Unkasoft
After several years in telecommunications and Internet companies, Juan co-founded Unkasoft and deals with the sales direction. University degree in Computer science, UCLM University. He won the NETI award in 2005, thanks to the business plan for a mobile games company.

Unkasoft, Spanish company, with offices in Madrid and Salamanca, is from the year 2004, perhaps the company for mobile advergaming which has invested the most in R&D. In-games advertising is based on the use of videogame productions to create non-intrusive advertising, which is, more efficient. Unkasoft promotes this new and exciting way of creating publicity. In 2007 won the FICOD Innovation Award.

Iñaki Cabrera, Director of the Mobile Marketing Business Unit of Vodafone Spain
Iñaki got 20 years of experience, of which the last 11 have been devoted to mobile communications, in Vodafone Spain. He has always be in roles of Business Development and Commercial Strategy and he was responsibile of the first WAP portal of Vodafone (Airtel Conecta).

Iñaki will present the Discovery Program, the first commercial offer of Vodafone Spain to brands and agencies in mobile marketing. This is a 4 month long programme, targetted to the big brands, including a rich inventory, massive impressions and all the Vodafone support: from concept to analytics. It also includes all the technicalities (microsites, content adaptation etc) to make the experience as easy as possible. The claim of the program was “10 Brands, 10 Successes” and it’s being quite succesfull.

David Purón, Research and Development Engineer, Telefonica R+D. Open Mobile Alliance Requirements Development Working Group Chairman.

Member of the Telefonica’s Research and Development Team, David takes part in different projects related with Mobile Advertising. He has broad experience in the field of standardization, and he was elected as Chairman of the Open Mobile Alliance’s Requirements Development Working Group (organization participated by more than 400 technological companies). Within this organization, David leads the development of the Mobile Advertising 1.0 standards, that is creating a lot of expectancy in the industry.”

After december’s MobileMonday Barcelona event on Location-Based Services, we’re announcing the next MobileMonday Madrid event on December 17, topic Mobile Social Media.

Social Media has gone mainstream this year with popular sites such as MySpace, YouTube, Facebook, Wikipedia, Flickr to only name the most popular. Social Media is the catalyst to the democratization of content publishing, transforming people from content readers into content publishers. Many of this social neworking & tools and sites can already be accessed from the mobile phone but the real challenges are lying into making all this user-generated content easily accesible on the phone in the right context while staying connected with your social network of friends wherever you are.

Hotxt was was David’s brainchild, which was where the roots for trutap came from. David continues to heavily input into product vision and partnerships. He has over 20 years of business development experience with high-tech companies in the UK, Europe, US and Asia.

Christian Wiklund - Founder Wichro, Inc. (Sweden / USA)

Christian will be presenting the 1st Wichro product, called ZKOUT. ZKOUT will be beta launched during Le Web 3 conference in Paris and launched to the public in Q1 2008. Christian has held engineering and management positions at companies such as VMware, Inc. in Silicon Valley.

Andy Abramson, author of VoIPWatch (USA)

VoIPWatch, one of the most read blogs on the subject of IP based telephony and mobile communications, will be on hand in Madrid to talk about Mobile VoIP and Social Communications, as the blend between Social Networks and Social Media. He plans to cover current and proposed Mobile VoIP services and solutions that both consumer and enterprise customers can use today on readily available handsets which work just like their mobile phone and a few other services that augment their existing mobile phone service.

Jaime González Rodríguez, Emergent Services on Internet and Multimedia Division Manager - Telefonica I+D

Jaime manages the division of Emergent Services on the Internet and Multimedia Direction devoted to define the technological strategy in these area’s for Telefonica R&D. He will talk on Mobile Data and crossplatform (Mobile / Web / TV) services and the impact for Telco’s on their own service portfolio in order to harness the true potential of Mobile Social Media.

The advantage of mobility related to the Web and the Social Media has been used as for now for providing user-generated content (through the use of camera-phones). New and promising projects are showing a way to leverage the consumption part and also other important advantages, like communication and context-awareness, are making the “convergence” concept a reality.

Julia Palatovska - independent consultant in the CIS mobile market, co-Founder of MoMo Ukraine and Moscow Chapters.

Julia is one of the most active mobile market leaders in Ukraine where during the last year she managed to organize the Mobile Monday community involving all key market players. In October 2007 Julia was also managing the team which established the launch of MoMo in Moscow. Julia’s activities are aimed at introducing foreign companies to the CIS market as well as providing global promotion to the companies based in Ukraine and Russia, and, as MoMo slogan says: “Bringing the Industry Together”. Julia will speak about the CIS mobile market opportunities and introduce the examples of mobile social media in her region.

After the succesful opening event of MobileMonday Madrid and the Mobile Web Applications topic covered in Barcelona, the next MobileMonday Madrid event on November 12 covers experiences from the UK Mobile Market. The UK has one of the most active emerging markets in next generation mobile data services, together with France, Germany, Italy and Spain. We want to learn about the experiences from some of the best positioned people in the UK Mobile industry and explore new market opportunities.

For this event we brought together Mike Short, VP Research and Development at O2 - Telefonica, Ray Anderson, CEO of Bango and Christopher Moisan of Taptu to share with us about their experiences and new business opportunities. The panel will be moderated by Ricardo Pérez from IE Business School.

Bio Speakers:

Mike Short, VP Research and Development at O2 - Telefonica (UK)
Mike’s career spans 33 years in Electronics and Telecommunications, with the last 20 years in Mobile Communications. He was appointed Contracts Director of Cellnet in 1989 dealing with major infra-structure investments and UK interconnect agreements. In 1993 the focus moved to launching Cellnet’s GSM service and establishing Roaming Agreements.

He was elected Chairman of the GSM Association for 1995/96 and served on their Executive Board for 5 years. He has also served as a member of the UK Home Office Internet Task Force and UK OSAB (Ofcom Spectrum Advisory Board) until 2006 and 2007 respectively.

Mike has chaired the MDA since 1998, leading the Association as Chairman/spokesperson and on Public Policy. He was appointed VP Technology for O2 GROUP in 2000 and is now focusing on Third Generation cellular, Mobile TV and steering O2’s Group Research and Development in mobile.

Ray Anderson, CEO of Bango (UK)
Ray is Chief Executive of Bango, the business that uniquely enables content providers to market, deliver and sell their products and services directly to mobile phone users on all networks world-wide.

Ray co-founded Bango in 1999 after realizing that the convergence of the internet with the ubiquity of mobile phones could open up huge opportunities for content and service providers. Ray positioned the company to benefit from the opening up of the operator portals in 2004, and the transition of the mobile content business from a messaging model to a customer friendly browse and buy Internet model.

Ray is an entrepreneur, innovator and investor with 20 years experience. He was named “Technology Entrepreneur of the Year” in February 2006 and in September 2006 at the ME Awards was given a special award for outstanding contribution to the mobile entertainment industry. A member of “The Cambridge Angels”, Ray was a founding investor in a variety of growing companies including TeamStudio, Tenison Technology, Electronic Share Information (sold to E*Trade), Aspective, Trigenix (sold to Qualcomm), RE5ULT (82ASK), Shortfuze, Midentity and other technology businesses.

Christopher Moisan, VP of product & market development at Taptu
Chris has worked in telecommunications and digital media for over 15 years and has worked for some of world’s most innovative digital companies including Napster and The Guardian, a founding member of OgilvyInteractive (London) and also founded his own B2B networking service back in 1999.

Taptu is a new ’social assisted’ mobile search service which finds the most useful mobile content in the fewest possible clicks. Taptu unveiled the beta version of it’s service on Oct 15 at Mobile2.0 in San Francisco and Chris will share with us the story behind Taptu and social assisted search and give us some insights in to Taptu’s plans for the future
